Seafood FRESHtival

The Star Gold Coast's new fresh seafood extravaganza.

Festivals are always a good time and particularly when they involve some of the very best eats around. Which is exactly what’s happening at The Star Gold Coast’s Seafood FRESHtival, kicking off on Thursday April 18th and partying until May 31st.

It’s going to be six weeks of fun and entertainment with a focus on the freshest, locally and internationally sourced seafood and guess what Gold Coasters? You’re all invited.

There’ll be sweet specials on offer throughout the venue, plus delicious delicacies you may never have sampled before AND exclusive ticketed and pop up events.

We can’t wait. Here’s a few things to get you excited.

Don’t go past the Omakase Experience at Kiyomi – The Star Gold Coast’s incredible Japanese dining destination. It’s a unique 20-plus course dining experience where the chefs decide what to serve and only six diners will be participating at a time. Events will take place on May 30th and 31st and the 1st of June but grab your tickets soon, at $275 per person it’s sure to sell out.

Nineteen at The Star will present a Sustainable Seafood Dinner showcasing the very best of Australian seafood, with the aim of educating diners about the importance of sustainability. The dinner is $250 per person for an 8-course tasting menu with paired wines and overlooking the ocean from way up high.

Cucina Vivo is hosting an Italian Long Lunch to celebrate life lived a little slower and the spicy flavours of the Calabrian Coast with dishes featuring deliciously fresh, Australian seafood. It’s $130 per person including a three-hour drinks package with a selection of wines from the South of Italy.

Buy tickets here.

Count us in on all of those thank you.

Besides those exceptional events, Harvest Buffet will be offering their endless seafood buffet with a glass of house wine or beer included for just $74.90 for adults.

Pop up-wise, Garden Kitchen & Bar will have Prawn Po Boys for the duration of the festival for $17 or try Furphy beer battered flathead and chips for $19. All available on Saturday’s from 5pm until late.

At the Sports Bar, you can get Australian prawn rolls with remoulade and lettuce for just $12. Keep those coming please.

There’ll also be weekday seafood specials at M&G Café Bar, Mei Wei Dumplings and Food Quarter. Pop in every single day to sample something new.

Locals Simon Gloftis and Billy Cross are set to absolutely revolutionise the Gold Coast’s dining scene.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for will finally arrive this Saturday (March 24th) when nineteen at The Star Gold Coast swings open its solid gold (may be made up) doors.

The high-end restaurant and bar, located on the top level of The Darling in Broadbeach, is pure sophistication unrivaled by any other venue the Gold Coast (and perhaps Australia) has ever seen.

Stepping inside you’ll glide down a curved stairway and be met with sweeping ocean and city views via floor to ceiling windows, stone flooring, a sparkling chandelier and of course, the piece de resistance, an infinity pool from which dreams are made.

nineteen’s colour palette features jeweled hues of teal and ocean blue reminiscent of the Coast’s natural landscape, oozing luxury and ensuring you feel as though you’ve stepped into a glittering wonderland.

As expected, the 110 seat restaurant area will deliver an exceptional, produce-driven dining experience with signature dishes including a Rock Lobster Bolognese and a 400g Wagyu Sirloin Kiwami MB9 (an Australian first and premium dish designed for two).

A custom designed wine room boasts space for 1500 bottles and the bar area offers somewhat of a lighter feel, perfect for after work cocktails or a night of dancing with the girls.

Of course, there’s an exclusive private dining area complete with its own bar and a cognac wall (doesn’t that sounds delightful) to create a completely bespoke experience. Let us know what that’s like hey.

The long-awaited venue is the baby of local restauranteur Simon Gloftis and event promoter Billy Cross and is set to absolutely revolutionise the Gold Coast’s dining scene.

Created for those who crave a truly high class experience, nineteen at The Star Gold Coast is set to be THE place for cutting edge dining with the added bonus of international DJs and plenty of dancing late into the night.

Count. Us. In.

LOCATION: The Darling, Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach

Harvest Buffet

If you’re eating out, why settle for a single paltry dish, when you could be taking your pick from a bacchanalian spread that would put a party thrown by Greek gods to shame?

Since we’re all in agreement that more is always more, let’s talk buffets. And the newest one set to satisfy even the most insatiable of appetites is Harvest Buffet, now open at The Star Gold Coast.

In its former life as Food Fantasy, the venue was perennially popular with both locals and visitors alike. But now in its latest incarnation, Harvest Buffet more than delivers on its promises of a world-class buffet experience that’s bigger, better and even more beautiful (poolside views, anyone?).

With a fresh new face and expanded capacity for 500 fellow foodies, the six months of renos to Harvest have resulted in a complete revamp that’s more than skin deep. Now literally one of the largest buffet offerings in South East Queensland, Harvest offers a cornucopia of the freshest seafood and fantastic fare from around the world, guaranteed to please even the pickiest of eaters.

So if you’ve got a group of friends who can never agree on where to eat, want to earn back that belt notch on cheat day, or need somewhere to take that pain-in-the-butt person we all know – who should be a size zero given the number of food groups they’ve sworn themselves off…but strangely isn’t – then Harvest is your go-to option to tick all boxes.

We’ve mentioned the trawler-fresh seafood selection – always going to be a hit – but you’ll find new favourites to feast on at the carvery station. Be sure to try the distinctive, smoke-licious grilled meat dishes from the South American style Parilla Grill while you’re in carnivore mode too.

But wait, there’s more! Not one, but two live kitchen stations, both of the Asian persuasion. The Chinese BBQ and Asian stations are a master stroke of the redesign and allow diners to interact with the culinary maestros behind the menu, instead of keeping them hidden away in the kitchens like some unappreciated 50s housewife.

But shoosh for a second there finicky eaters, we’re still not finished. Harvest also offers Roman style pizzas with a thicker, chewier crust, fresh from the oven, and a selection of house-made pastas.

Finally, if you’re the type of hedonist that heads straight for the desserts (no shame in that!), you’ll have fun with the Wonka-esque two metre tall chocolate fountain and display of decadent desserts that are basically begging to be dunked or drenched in the aforementioned melted, chocolatey goodness. (Feeling like a little food-nap just thinking about it? Yeah, we are too.)

Finally, the days of settling for single serves is over!

Harvest Buffet is now open at The Star, so get down there and feast to your heart’s content friends!

LOCATION: The Star Gold Coast, Casino Drive, Broadbeach
HOURS: Harvest Buffet is now open 7 days a week for breakfast (6.30am-10am), lunch (11.30am-2.30pm) and dinner (Sunday-Friday 5.30pm-late and Saturday 5pm-late).
