Treat yourself to a post-iso fashion haul at Style Collective

Step out in style.

Since we’re venturing out into the world again, we best we looking as good as possible while we do it. Which can be as simple as stocking our wardrobes with a few new things (or many new things) for a little confidence boost after being stuck inside for so long.

If there’s one spot on the Coast that is a delightful one-stop shop where you can do exactly that, it’s Style Collective at The Oasis Shopping Centre Broadbeach.

If you haven’t been in to peruse their goodies yet, you’re in for a treat. Style Collective stocks stylish and functional fashion for women of all ages, and they aim to source collections from simplistic essentials to pieces inspired by faraway places. Owner Jenni Ngetis is passionate about slow fashion, ensuring her boutique stocks items that will stay on trend for many years.

Style Collective stock Australian clothing labels like Holiday Designs, The Shanty Corporation and Brave + True plus EOS footwear from Portugal and The Natural Shoe Company footwear, which is made in Spain.

Jenni’s very own label Latutti is designed here on the Gold Coast and was created to fill the gap of functional wear for busy days. It boasts beautiful, flowy maxi dresses for weekend escapes and the brand is mindful of minimum environmental impact. Printed dresses and tops use Oeko TexEco passport inks, which are non-toxic and use no water in the printing process. They work closely with a progressive new printing company in Bali.

Last summer, Style Collective created their latest label, Latutti Swim, a small collection of rash shirts and one pieces, all constructed from fabric created from recycled plastic bottles and printed with the same eco-friendly inks as the Latutti dresses.

Style Collective came about after a mid-80s trip to Bali, a 20-year love story involving a local lifeguard, multiple retail shops and manufacturing clothing for companies from Europe to the Caribbean Islands, all while raising two boys.

A turn of fate returned the family to Australia 16 years ago and given their history within the clothing industry, it was a natural progression to create a retail experience on the Gold Coast.

Customer service is paramount to Style Collective and the team absolutely love assisting customers in capturing their own true style.

So, if you’re in the market for a post-iso wardrobe (same), look no further than Style Collective. They are sure to have exactly what you’re looking for and probably much more too.

Level Up Arcade reopens, so fun is back on

Fun is back on friends and we’re not talking about midday margaritas over Zoom with the crew (although that can absolutely stay).

No, we’re talking about the real, leave your house and play a good old-fashioned game kind which is a thing you can do again at the recently re-opened Level Up Arcade at The Oasis Shopping Centre, Broadbeach

If you’ve not yet had a chance to visit the arcade, you’re in for a treat. It’s a literal playground filled with all the very best arcade-style things from your childhood, whether or not you have children, you should absolutely go there ASAP.

The state-of-the-art amusement venue is filled with limited edition pinball machines, alongside the latest video and classic games like Daytona, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Jurassic Park and Buck Hunter.

The space includes a classic arcade, Sideshow Alley and even a dedicated adults gaming zone (best bit). There’s also a full wall Pac-Man and a neon projection installation (insta-inspiration).

Not only all of that goodness though, as is custom at arcades you can also win all of the prizes should your skill level be up to scratch. And the prizes at Level Up Arcade are a cut above the rest.

Think razor scooters, Nerf guns (give us all of these), giant plush toys, licensed Star Wars and Marvel gear, restaurant and cafe vouchers, limited edition memorabilia and special event tickets. So all of the best things.

It’s pretty much the best time you can have indoors (with kids around anyway), so get to it.

Level Up Arcade is open again from right now and you owe your iso-self a bit of fun.

Grand Dynasty is all that and Dim Sum!

There isn’t enough exceptional Chinese food in the world, well maybe not in the world, but there certainly isn’t enough on the Gold Coast.

It is with full, happy bellies we are here to report that one of our fave Broadbeach haunts Grand Dynasty is indeed, some of the best Chinese food we’ve ever tasted.

This delightful venue that will surely awaken the senses of anyone who steps inside. With stunning lanterns string throughout, authentic Chinese ornaments placed throughout and tanks filled with live seafood, it’s a dining experience you won’t soon forget.

It’s the work of chef Ken Zeng, who has spent many a year travelling the world, including our very own beachside city as a child. His smiling face is a highlight of spending time at Grand Dynasty and his passion for hospitality is evident in both the menu and the overall vibe of the venue.

The menu is a mix of yum cha for lunch and a la carte options for dinner and let it be known that every single thing on it is delicious and will have you coming back time and time again.

The yum cha menu is filled with all your favourites including dim sims, MANY varieties of dumplings, minced beef balls, pork pastries, BBQ buns, soft shell crab, san choy bow (love you) and crispy egg tarts. We recommend sampling everything.

At dinner time, well, prepare to have your mind blown.

The Hong Kong Chilli Mud Crab is sensational and one of the tastiest dishes we’ve ever tried. Not to mention it looks too pretty to eat, almost too pretty, that’s not really a thing.

The Lobster with Garlic and Butter sauce, same deal. So much flavour, so very pretty to look at, but did not have a problem demolishing.

You should also sample the Steamed Sliced Abalone with ginger and shallots.

Of course, all the usual favourites are on offer including the BEST Honey Chicken there has ever been (and we’ve sampled a lot), Chicken with cashew nuts, Crispy Duck with plum sauce and Salt and Pepper King Prawns.

The menu is extensive and everything is the goods so, if you have a hard time choosing, the banquet is definitely what you want.

You may choose from Banquet A (which includes Mongolian Lamb in sizzling hot pot, winning) for $50 per person and Banquet B, which includes MANY incredible dishes (including the famous Peking Duck) for $68 person and both are ridiculous value.

So yes, we’re pretty happy to have Chinese food back in our lives. Do yourselves a favour friends, Grand Dynasty will make you happy.
