Everything that opened last month.
Everything that opened last month.
Hello, here we are in November and that means (somehow) the year is almost over. What a ride. Happily, there have been many a new venue popping up over the Gold Coast recently and we, as usual, are here to share them all in case you missed any.
Make sure you tick them all off before next month, because there’s more coming this month. How good.
Ms Margot’s
A sleek new cocktail bar opened in Surfers Paradise recently and it’s perfect for after work drinks with the gang, or somewhere to grab a tasty bite to eat. Found within Hilton Surfers Paradise, the newbie overlooks the street and you can indulge in Haloumi Fries with chipotle mayo and pomegranate glaze or a Tempura Bug Roll on a milk bun with Sriracha mayo and cos lettuce to name a couple. Sip on one of many delightful cocktails and you’ll be a very happy Gold Coaster.

Hotel Komune Gold Coast
Now while Hotel Komune is in no way a newbie, it’s had quite the revamp including a brand new menu and a fresh new look. So we’re putting it in. The Cooly venue has a beautiful new Meditteranean vibe including a menu filled with rotating tapas options and plenty of NYC inspired craft cocktails. All the good things. They’re launching a bottomless Saturday brunch soon too. Go there.
Where: 146 Marine Parade, Coolangatta
Lavelle Café and Restaurant
A new dining spot for Nerang was Lavelle Café and Restaurant who are serving up a menu filled with goodies including dishes like House-made Waffles with roast macadamia and honeycomb butter, lemon myrtle curd and seasonal fruit. Everything is made with the utmost passion and you’ll absolutely experience the welcoming, community vibe you’ve come to expect from Nerang. Lovely.
Where: Shop 6, 8 Lavelle Street, Nerang
The Don
From the people who brought us Margarita Cartel comes another excellent eatery, this time in the form of delicious Italian food. It’s called The Don and it can be found just two doors down from the OG on the Lower Gold Coast Highway and serving up authentic eats with a modern Aussie twist. For example, there’s an Eggplant Parmigiana that is crumbed and deep fried and a party in your mouth. So great.
Where: Shop 4, 1840 Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads
Wavy Bone
From coffee cart to standalone café, Wavy Bone has transformed in 2020 and we are here for it. You can still expect the same five-star Blackboard Coffee but this time you can sit down in a sweet space to enjoy it, along with some mouthwatering baked treats and gourmet toasties. Wavy Bone can be found in Chirn Park which is a beautiful spot should you not be from around there.
Where: 1/36 Musgrave Avenue, Chirn Park
Liquid Dreams
A colourful new juice bar opened up down Coolangatta way not long ago and it’s the perfect place to get on the healthy eating (and drinking) train ahead of summer. There’ll you’ll find absolutely stacked acai bowls, a huge array of fresh juices, smoothies, watermelon cups, chia cups, all of the things. It’s all so very good for you and so very yummy. So good to refresh after a day in the sun too.
Where: Ward Street, Coolangatta
Maman Kitchen & Bar
An absolutely beautiful newbie appeared in Burleigh Heads in the last few weeks and it’s one you’re going to want to visit at the earliest available opportunity. It’s called Maman Kitchen & Bar and it’s a Mediterranean-style venue with one of the best fitouts we’ve seen, many exceptional dishes to choose from and of course, a range of epic cocktails too. Get dressed up in your very best frock and get down there for a good time.
Where: 49 James Street, Burleigh Heads
The Cavill Hotel
Beloved Melba’s closed her doors a little while ago, taking with her all our secrets and plenty of epic memories. Sad but with a very shiny silver lining in the form of The Cavill Hotel. The new look venue opened recently and it’s going to be a very good time. There’s a gastro pub-style menu, lots of drinks on offer and a state-of-the-art gaming lounge too. Go see for yourself.
Where: 46 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise
Stone Studio
Down Kingscliff way, a pottery studio slash café opened and it’s an absolute dream. Stone Studio is the work of two very passionate locals who wanted to allow people the opportunity to take some time out from their loves and create something special. Which is exactly what happens at any number of their workshops and classes. Combine that with a cuppa and some baked goodies and everything is golden. Do yourself a favour and head down there ASAP.
Where: 1/110 Marine Parade, Kingscliff
