D’Alley Eatery is for all the South American foodie connoisseurs.
D’Alley Eatery is for all the South American foodie connoisseurs.
On your daily grind around town, do you have your favourite spots to go to? Pre-programmed into your brain, you know where the coffee is always good, the joint where the breakfasts have minimal wait time and the bar where everybody knows your name. And that is some wise behaviour, let us assure you.
One place you might just want to throw into that mix is Mermaid Beach’s new drop-in spot for the tastiest Brazilian-style burgers and the freshest fruit juices, D’Alley Eatery!
Finding itself on the side of the northbound Gold Coast Highway, you’d be forgiven for zipping past this small hole-in-the-wall affair, and to do that folks, is a crying shame in our books. The venue works in two parts, as you enter the small shop space on the left to eye up what you feel like devouring, order, then pop next door to their cool alley come dining space to await your impending taste sensation.
So, what’s up for grabs? Only some of the tastiest and freshest burgers you have most likely had in a very long time. Originally from Brazil, owner and Chef Pablo Schmitz Irion has garnered years of experience as a chef here in Australia and overseas before deciding to open the doors to his first food venture. The focus is on giving people food that has been entirely housemade and as fresh as you can get. Everything is made on-site; down to the lip-licking sauces and mayos slathered on every burger.
The selection of signature burgers should be more than enough to satisfy anyone, with aptly given names such as D’Chooky (chicken tenderloin) and D’Belly (pork belly) nearly stealing the show, if it wasn’t for the D’Pappy with house green mayo, salads, prime beef patty, bacon, cheese, and not forgetting pickles.
For the plant-based out there you’ll be pleased to hear the D’Musshy is by no means a filler on this menu: lashings of confit mushrooms and miso mayo married together is so utterly divine some carnivores may want to have a look in.
If this wasn’t enough already the eatery also dishes up some fresh-as-they-get fruit juices. Name your three ingredients, find yourself a seat, and await a tasty and nutritious libation your body will thank you for later.
As some time has gone by since opening D’alley, Pablo has introduced some mains plates to the mix — and people have lapped them up. You’ll see some Aussie favourites such as Chicken Parmy, but true to the ethos of the business, a daily specials board serving up some Latin American inspired dishes such as a Brazilian style Chicken Pie — with all the cheese — is on offer should you feel like something other than a whopping burger.
We think you should add D’Alley to your list of places you habitually hit up for some genuinely amazing burgers and other Brazilian goods.
