If you’re the type of person who has frequented Nobby Beach over the years or even lives there, then you might find yourself familiar with the utterly charming and ever so good-looking Canvas. The modest colourful arts, crafts, and homewares store also happens to pump out some pretty perfect coffee. And as it’s been there for close to a decade, it’s safe to say it has quite the dedicated following.
One suburb that shows no sign of slowing down with impressive openings is, of course, Palm Beach, so isn’t it apt then that Canvas has decided to venture a few locales and open themselves an exciting additional new venue in this brimming beachside suburb — we certainly think so!
Part of a small collection of spaces at the foot of the new Magnoli building at the corner of Nineteenth Avenue is where owner Sarah Bradley has decided to open her sensational new café come homewares and gifts extravaganza. With comfortable seating outside beside a newly created kids playpark and grassy area, we are sure this will become legendary amongst locals as a loungey coffee stop. It’s what living on the Gold Coast is all about, right?
Naturally, these guys are pouring some exceptional coffee, as one might expect, with beans coming from none other than Coast favourites Paradox Coffee Roasters. But arming yourself with caffeine shouldn’t be all the motivation needed to swing by this new happening spot. Because like their older sibling further up the Coast, one can expect a plethora of beautiful retail goods for your pursual — whether it’s a little treat for yourself or a gift for an occasion — there’s so many options it’s hard to list them all.
The space is intended to showcase local and national brands that — for lack of a better expression — are making some outstanding and eye-catching goods. You can expect to find an assortment of candles from local label Drift Co. beside unique handmade plates and cups from Pottery For The Planet and specially handmade baskets from Ghana by Afro Pacific. The list truly does go on!
The emphasis is to make Canvas Palm Beach a sensory experience. Sure, it’s somewhere you can grab a good coffee, but also somewhere you can come and browse, maybe earmark something as a birthday gift or grab a bunch of freshly arranged flowers as you go about your day. There is something for everybody here regardless of age or taste.
For those looking to fuel up for the rest of the day, you’ll be torn between a tantalising selection of counter food and a thoughtfully put-together breakfast menu. Their marvellous Acai Bowl paired up with a selection of cold press juices is a sure-fire way to attack anyone’s day. And if you should feel inclined — and know how tasty they are — then grab one of their Amazing Slices (yep, that’s their name) to go with a coffee, or as an afternoon treat. Guaranteed to be one move you will not regret.
Come for the coffee and relaxed vibes but stay and check out the attention-grabbing assortment of retail goods — safe to say, Palm Beach, you’re going to love this newbie.
