The Star Gold Coast celebrates the almighty Amber Ale in October
Okay, we just realised October is only a couple of weeks away and sorry, but how exactly did that happen? Thankfully, October is undeniably a cracker of a month, mostly because the weather is mint and it makes us think of beer. Apparently we’re not the only ones channelling some springtime amber ales, with The Star Gold Coast celebrating two Aussie banger beer brands (say that after a few) all month long! Stone & Wood and Eumundi Beer are the flavours of the month, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Oktoberfest, eat your heart out!!
Stone & Wood Beer Garden
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, get on down to the Stone & Wood Beer Garden on The Lawn at Garden Kitchen & Bar, thanks to Stone & Wood Brewing and Eumundi Brewery. But get this, they’re not just serving up any old brews, with some exclusive beers made just for this event. Heck yes!
Up there on most beer drinker’s top five, Byron Bay fave Stone & Wood invite you to knock back your choice of Pacific Ale, Green Coast Crisp, Pilot Batch Hazy IPA, or their Limited Release Sour. Nothing says Queenslander like a frothy from Eumundi, and the super cool official Eumundi Caravan will be onsite pouring Pale Ale, Refreshing Lager, Oktoberfest Altbier or Ginger Beer (side note – how GOOD is ginger beer!?!). For the indecisive or greedy amongst us, both brewers will offer tasting paddles, and this has us written all over it.
Soak up the froth with yummy nosh from the Container Kitchen, including a special Brewer’s Board, plus enjoy live music to make your arvo/evening sesh one to remember. Entry is free so there’s no excuse not to ‘hop’ along and partake in some serious thirst quenching!
Stone & Wood Brewer’s Lunch
Snap up a ticket to the four-course beer masterclass Brewer’s Lunch on Saturday 22 October. You can expect a frothy line-up of fan faves and limited release beers, once again presented on a fun beer-tasting paddle. Paired with a special menu curated by Garden & Kitchen Bar’s Chef De Cuisine and Stone & Wood’s Cicerone, you’ll learn all about the delicious food and amazing ales (code for impress your mates with beer intel at the next barbie).
Your tastebuds will be on high alert for an onslaught of delicious flavours complemented perfectly by the chosen nectars of the Gods. After freshly baked bread with house-made herb butter, enjoy an entrée of Muscovado Salmon with white soy and lime, a main of Massaman Braised Stockyard Rib, served with palm sugar, pickled cucumber, and chilli salad, and for dessert, Grandma’s toffee tart, with whipped white chocolate. Married up with Cloud Patcher Ale, Green Coast Crisp, Pilot Batch Hazy IPA and the Limited Release Sour, it’s a beer and foody’s wonderland.
Tickets are $105.53 and can be purchased here
Live on The Lawn
As always, The Lawn at Garden Kitchen & Bar is serving up free quality live entertainment every weekend, along with their palette-pleasing food and drinks.
In addition to crowd faves and Sunday sesh regulars McKenzie Band and Soul Collective, catch the Queen of Motown, soul, funk and disco Lisa Hunt on Friday 7th and 21st of October. Performing with the likes of Pavarotti, James Brown, Jimmy Barnes and Midnight Oil, her voice has been called “a force of nature”!
Two headline acts will also be confirmed shortly for Saturday 1st and 22nd, and if we know The Star, they’ll be worth the wait! Check here for updates.
