Yoga-na bend over backwards to get to Yoga Day Festival

YOLO so yoga up at this ‘breath’taking beachside event.

Ok, let’s start off by stating we’re not stretching the truth when we say this can only be likened to a yoga lover’s Coachella. Let’s set the scene shall we? Perhaps you’re new to the practise or a long-term yogi with more flexibility than a work at home job? Or maybe you don’t know your asanis from your acais but dominate at Twister, and want to transfer that skillset to something more health and wellbeing focused? Regardless of your motivation, experience and/or bendability, listen up because this OM-azing event is (fitness) gear-ed towards all of the above.

Taking place on Sunday 4th June, zeal your zen and check your chakras at The Yoga Day Festival Gold Coast. This famous and free community festival will celebrate all things yoga, hosted by the world class experts from the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga. Commemorating the United Nations International Day of Yoga and staged beachside at ‘breath’takig Burleigh, you’ll leave with more wellness wisdom than you can poke a rolled-up yoga mat at.

The theme for this year is Rise, Reconnect, Rekindle which not only delivers R&R but will inspire, heal and nourish the mind, body and soul. There’s no looking downward (dog), it’s all about helping you on your path to self-discovery and immersing yourself in this life-changing ancient practice.

Think inspiring yoga and meditation classes under the winter sun by much loved local teachers in the main stage area. And guys, this includes one of the most popular sessions of the day – yoga dance! Yes, it’s a thing and we’re all kinds of excited to unleash our inner Sjana Elise and Beyonce All.At.Once #mood.

Picture a beautiful boho tent village where you can explore a range of yoga lifestyle and wellness workshops, sound healing, laidback kirtan, and even just a place to chill out and take in your surroundings.

There’s a mindful kids space where your yogi youngsters can enjoy games, music and asanas, and embrace their bourgeoning yearning for yoga. Then you and your mini-me’s can refuel with nourishing, delicious vegan eats in the food forest, and shop local yoga goods to save for ‘ron in the market village.

What’s a festival without music and The Yoga Day Festival certainly hits all the right notes. The amazing line-up of local sacred music bands including Ashraya, Pralad & The Chants, Kirtan Experience, and the Travelin’ Yogis will set the tone for a day of fun, enlightenment and empowerment.

As this event has built up quite the loyal and limber following in recent years, we recommend jumping online to reserve your spot here. Also, hot tip incoming, a festival this popular means parking can be a core, ah chore, so make sure you and your posse carpool or take public transport.

So get ready to massage your mind, nurture your yoga knowledge, and nama(stay) the whole day at this year’s much-anticipated Yoga Day Festival.

Where: Justins Park, 1698 Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads
