The Doyles Art Award Exhibition

Boasting a substantial prize pool and celebrating its landmark 20th annual event, The Doyles Art Award and Exhibition has officially opened submissions to artists aged five years and above.

Named after famous Australian artist d’Arcy William Doyle, the prestigious award is the Gold Coast’s longest running painting prize and carries a prize pool of $30,000 across its three competition categories – Landscape, Figurative and Still Life.

Event Director Sam Sinner says the annual exhibition has become an iconic event on Australia’s art and culture calendar, providing a prominent platform for talent to flourish and thrive.

“With a prize pool of $30,000, we anticipate this year to be our biggest yet, with the award fund making a substantial impact in supporting and acknowledging artistic talent,” says Ms Sinner.

“Our landscape category boasts a $20,000 first prize and there are also award categories for school-aged artists as well as an All Ability Award.

“Artists need to submit their works by 24 May for consideration and detailed guidelines and further information are available on The Doyles official website.”

With the exhibition running from 27 June to 7 July, Ms Sinner says over 400 artworks are expected to be on display come opening night.

“The Doyles Art Award offers a unique opportunity for artists residing in Australia to showcase their work, gain recognition for their talent and engage with a broader audience,” says Ms Sinner.

“The organising team behind the event has established an outstanding reputation for promoting new and emerging artists and last year we delivered over $70,000 back into the arts community through prizes and sales.

“Winners have found it to be a valuable stepping stone in their careers, with several artists being represented in galleries as a result of their exposure through The Doyles.

“We also offer the opportunity for collectors of fine art to purchase artworks from local and national artists across the duration of the exhibition.”

Originally established in 2004 by dedicated volunteers, The Doyles Art Award is held in Firth Park Community Centre, Somerset Drive in Mudgeeraba and runs from 27 June to 7 July 2024.

Artist submission close 5.00PM AEST 24 May 2024 for the three adult categories: Landscape, Figurative and Still Life; and three junior categories (under 18 years): 5-8, 9-13 and 14-17.
