Relive your childhood in Coolangatta.
Relive your childhood in Coolangatta.
One of your favourite childhood comfort foods is back in a big way and with the recent onset of chilly weather, it’s quite the time to be alive.
Jaffles HQ opened in Coolangatta last week and with it comes more varieties of jaffles than your Mum could ever have hoped to create.
The space can be found upstairs at The Strand next to Woollies and bright pink umbrellas suspended from the ceiling mean you won’t miss it.
Jaffles HQ is the brainchild of a bunch of local folks who are set to bring us plenty more eating good times over the next year and, as people who can never eat too much, we are researching having extra stomachs inserted. It’s a solid plan.
But back to the jaffles. As mentioned, there are both sweet and savoury varieties so you can indulge in an entire jaffly meal without an ounce of guilt. Not sure what eating guilt is in all honesty, but apparently it’s a thing.
We had a go of the Banana Nutella Jaffle, which is made up of Nutella, banana (yep), marshmallow, coconut flakes and maple syrup and oh sweet, heavenly goodness it was a delight.
The Classic Beans Jaffle is the extra version of one Mum used to make filled with baked beans, smoked ham, shallots and Tasty cheese. Taste sensation.
You can also sample a Raspberry, Ricotta, Coconut jaffle and the Classic Ham and Cheddar among others.
Unsure how foods squashed between two pieces of bread can taste so very good but since we are not here to dissect logistics let us just say this; Jaffles HQ is a must-visit if you’re in need of a little home cooked nostalgia in your life.
And we know you are.
There’s also tasty cakes, made locally, and Bun Coffee from Byron Bay should extra sweet thangs be calling your name.
Get it.
