Ahhhh breakfast. You not only get our metabolism pumping and give us the fuel to kick-start our brain for the day (wait, that’s coffee…but hey, you have coffee with breakfast so same-same), but my-oh-my do you taste goooood. Nothing beats going out for an AM feed of any description, but a five-star brekky is the piece de resistance, and the avocado on our toasted sourdough! And where does one go for such an experience here on the GC? Nineteen at The Star. Where else right?!
As if the thought of breakfast all the way up on the nineteenth floor (fun fact; that’s why it’s called Nineteen at The Star – if you missed that obvious cue) couldn’t get any better, they took home the win for Gold Coast’s ‘Best Breakfast Restaurant’ at the end of 2021, PLUS they have a shiny new delectable menu! It’s sure to titillate your tastebuds and oh my, we’re more excited than our tween selves discovering stick on earrings.
Executive Chef Uday Huja and his team of gastronomic gurus work closely with farmers and primary producers to ensure they source premium and sustainable produce. The menu is inspired by their passion and commitment to presenting this produce with finesse and culinary craftsmanship, reflecting their respect for nature’s gifts. Featuring your classic breakfast dishes and some good ol’ Southern US specialties for a splash of pizzaz, breakfast here is simply a must.
We’re drooling over the Crab Omelette featuring Queensland spanner crab, tarragon, hash brown and fermented chilli and because we can, we’re also ordering a side of bacon rashes. Or perhaps the Toasted Croissant with gruyere, prosciutto and soft herb dressing is our fave and this is hurting our heads, because they’re both ridiculously worthy of filling our bellies.
Moving on to refreshments, it would be anti GC of us not to enjoy a Health Kick juice with apple, pineapple, cucumber, celery and avocado but wait we’re lying because we’ve just spotted the Breakfast Margarita with Herradura, Chambord and strawberry jam and I mean, is there really any contest here? It has jam people, and means it automatically makes it a superior breakfast choice.
Or, for those really living their best life as a guest of The Darling, you can be all extra and order The Darling Breakfast. You’ll begin with a fresh juice and your choice of coffee or tea, followed by a warm southern buttermilk biscuit, and then choose the main dish to your liking from the delicious breakfast selection. That’s right daaaaaarling.
So next time you’re in the market for a ten outta ten brekky whilst taking in one of the most spectacular views of our beautiful city, your mission is clear. And we know you choose to accept it.
