There’s more to Citrique than an all-you-can-eat!
There’s more to Citrique than an all-you-can-eat!
Many of us locals have experienced buffet-belly-bliss at JW Marriott Resort & Spa’s Citrique restaurant, treating our tastebuds to an award-winning seafood buffet. And you’ve also no doubt fuelled up for the day at Citrique’s equally palette-pleasing buffet brekkie. But did you also know that this Gold Coast fave also offers a lavish, locally sourced a la carte menu Monday through Thursday? Well now you do and you’re welcome, because it’s the ultimate bougee dining experience guaranteed to woo your love, spoil the fam and earn you the coveted ‘foodie friend’ title amongst your posse.
Delivering sophisticated creativity and signature freshness expertly crafted by a talented team of chefs, Citrique serves up the Ferrari of food. Spoiling guests with fresh and contemporary cuisine, this consistently chic showstopper specialises in ocean and paddock-to-plate deliciousness. But it’s not just the delectable a-la carte eats that make a trip to Citrique unforgettable, it’s also the immersive feels. With open kitchens, interactive live stations and signature at-table preparation, nothing says VIP like a chef prepping at your table, and we were born for this level of fancy.
Let’s dive stomach-first into breakfast or brunch, where you can tuck into a Zucchini Fritter with truffle scrambled eggs, rocket, haloumi, and house made bush tomato chutney. Or you can DIY with a Custom Omelette and no, we don’t mean make it yourself because that would be very #un-bougee, but more of a choose your own edible adventure, selecting the fresh ingredients you love most, then let the chefs prepare for you.
Moving on to lunch or dinner, if you’re looking for something smaller to work your way up to the main event, try the Bay Bug Dumplings on for size. Straight from Moreton Bay to your table, they’re served with bisque sauce, kaffir lime, coconut sambal, and fresh snipped herbs from the resort’s own JW Garden. Then, move into the likes of Oven Baked Snow Fish from the southern seas of Tasmania, with wood-fired cauliflower, lemon zest, dukkha crumble and white miso sauce. And for the grand finale (dessert, obviously), The Cloud will transport your tastebuds to cloud nine, with pavlova, passionfruit granita, berry gel, Chantilly cream and vanilla infused strawberry jelly.
A meal is not a meal without a cocktail or vino (or both, definitely both!) and lucky for us, there is a talented mixologist on standby. Using locally sourced beverages and ingredients from the JW Garden, the result is liquid gold. For the vino enthusiasts, an expertly crafted wine ambassador program has been introduced to provide the ultimate grape juice experience, and call an Uber already because we are so sold.
So who do we have to thank for all of this sustainable scrumptiousness? Executive Chef Paul Smart and what an appropriate surname because this man is a culinary genius. Extremely passionate about sourcing sustainably and locally, Paul is internationally renowned for his visionary cooking at numerous luxury venues. With a stack of awards, he’s even cooked for HRH Queen Elizabeth II and blimey, if it’s good enough for royalty…. Paul even hosts regular JW Garden tours, exploring the herbs, edible flowers, fruits and vegetables used in the resort’s restaurants. Plus, he holds onsite cooking classes demonstrating creative ways in which the seasonal produce can be used, and this is yet another incentive to book a stay-cay if you ask us.
So whether you’re partial to eating your body weight at a highbrow seafood and land lover’s buffet, or savouring every morsel of a masterfully prepared a la carte meal, Citrique is nothing short of magnifique.
