End the weekend on a reel high with Citrique at JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa.

If your Sundays have been feeling a little meh, Citrique Seafood Buffet has just the thing to elevate your weekend from bland to grand. Enter Citrique at JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa’s Sunday Long Lunch, featuring bottomless oysters and mini martinis. No this is not a drill, but an oyster odyssey paired with a mecca of mesmerising martinis. Translation: the stuff dreams are shucked from!

Prepare to embark on an extravagant selection of Australian oysters freshly harvested and shucked from the finest oyster hotspots; Port Lincoln, Albany Rock, Coffin Bay, Port Douglas, and New Zealand’s South Island. Each oyster is an exploration of creamy, earthy indulgence that promises to leave you shell-shocked in the best possible way.

But let’s not clam up about the rest of Citrique’s treasures. This seafood buffet is an endless parade of oceanic opulence. Think Pacific oysters, Mooloolaba tiger prawns, Spanner crabs, Moreton Bay bugs – the list goes on. Landlubbers, don’t fret, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into with artisan antipasto, succulent roasts, Asian-inspired dishes, wood-fired pizza, and European classics. It’s a sea-to-table feast that will have you hooked from the first bite.

For just $129 per adult, you can hit the buffet as many times as your heart (and stomach) desires. Thankfully, oversized clothing is trending right now – perfect for hiding those inevitable food babies. And if you’re wondering whether Citrique lives up to the hype, may we remind you about the 12 red hats in 2023 and 13 white hats in 2024, taking out consecutive AGFG awards. So yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.

But as we teased earlier, the pearls of delight don’t stop there. Citrique has upped the ante with mini martinis for an additional $29 per adult, with THE spirit of the moment; Wild Flower Gin. These tiny titans of tipple are designed to elevate your oyster experience, enhancing the briny sweetness with their botanical brilliance. It’s a match made in culinary heaven, guaranteed to leave you shaken, not stirred.

Start with a refreshing Vino Vellunto; Wild Flower Signature Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Averna, and orange bitters. Chase it with a Lemon Sorbet, with Wild Flower Lamington Vodka (Lamington? OMG…), limoncello, sugar syrup, and lemon juice. Three’s a crowd (not really) with a Lychee Martini; Wild Flower Pink Gin, Grand Marnier, lychee liquor, and lemon juice, and a martini marathon just wouldn’t be the real Slim Shady without the classic French Martini; Vodka, Chambord, pineapple juice, and raspberry. Oui oui!

So, why wait? Shell-ebrate your Sunday in style at Citrique with an oyster and martini extravaganza that’s as indulgent as it is unforgettable. Dive into this lavish feast where your only worry will be whether to go back for seconds or thirds (we vote fourths). Come for the oysters, stay for the martinis, and leave with a smile as vast as the breathtaking Broadwater only a hop, skip, and jump away.

12 of the best Gold Coast buffets

Harvest Buffet, The Star Gold Coast (image supplied)
Harvest Buffet, The Star Gold Coast (image supplied)

The history of buffet style eating is a mixed affair. Its origins could be said to hark back to a mixture of cultures — from Asia to Europe. The ‘smorgasbord’ became internationally known as such at the 1939 New York World’s Fair exhibition, because the Swedes had to invent a new way of showcasing the best of Swedish food to large numbers of visitors. And the rest, as they say, is history…

Whoever can claim to have been responsible, we’re not fussed! The point is buffets — and smorgasbords — are amazing ways to reach newfound eating goals, and we’ve got quite a few exceptional ones right here on the Gold Coast. Happy binge eating, folks!
