Finders Keepers Bar

Introducing Burleigh's new boozy Brunch Club.

If there’s one thing the Gold Coast’s buzzing social scene is missing, it’s a boozy brunch club. Think mid-morning cocktails, decadent delights and as many friends as you can muster on a balmy Saturday morning in Burleigh.

Thankfully, Finders Keepers Bar in James Street, has come to the rescue of local foodies across the Coast with the introduction of precisely that, Brunch Club, inspired by a laidback local community and the desperate need for boutique pre-lunch drinking.

The menu upholds the high standard Finders Keepers is famous for, offering modern share plates with a European influence and boasting the perfect balance of sweet and savoury.

For the sweet tooth, don’t go past the Chestnut and Strawberry ‘Wonut’ with macerated strawberries, vanilla bean ice cream, balsamic reduction and hazelnut candy.

If savoury dishes are more up your alley, the Organic Sourdough Parmesan French Toast served with roma tomato sorbet, crispy prosciutto and ricotta is something very special.

The Fresh Orange Sorbet Mimosa is, of course, the perfect refreshing brunch accompaniment as is the Spiked Fresh Fruit Frappe with fresh apple juice, lychee and mint (for those not into booze at 11am).

Combining lazy, luxurious dining and handcrafted cocktails, Brunch Club gives guests the option of a banquet paired with drinks or an a la carte menu for large groups and celebrations.

Move over long lunch, boozy brunch is the new black.

Brunch Club is open for reservations from Saturday May 6th.

HOURS: From 11am every Saturday.

LOCATION: 49 James Street, Burleigh Heads.

Burleigh’s exclusive dinner series

Your favourite Burleigh Heads boys Justin Lane and Harry’s Steak Bistro are set to launch a series of dinner events showcasing the best of Burleigh’s local hospitality including seasonal eats and the finest Aussie wines.

The series of three wine dinners was created in collaboration with leading vineyards and winemakers Leeuwin Estate, Pizzini Wines and Mac Forbes, and kicks off with the Leeuwin Estate Art Series Wine Dinner at Harry’s Steak Bistro & Bar on Wednesday, August 2.

You’re invited to join the good times with Pizzini Wines hosting what’s sure to be a raucous event, paired with a classic Justin Lane banquet meal, served long-table style.

Inspired by Justin Lane’s much-loved mantra, “eat, drink and be messy”, the Pizzini Wines Winter Feast embraces elegant European hospitality, with tasty, authentic eats paired with a delightful selection of fine Italian wine varieties.

The series returns to Harry’s with the Mac Forbes Wine Dinner, a special event themed as a spring awakening on Thursday, September 28.

Harry’s has collaborated with the Yarra Valley’s cult winemaker, Mac Forbes himself, to guide guests through a sweet selection of five premium wines, matched with Harry’s specialty goods, the best steaks and never ending fries.

It’s an exciting (and fancy) way to experience the Burleigh Heads dining scene!

Heaven is a place on Earth

Long before healthy food became hipster, Helen’s Heavenly Bulk Foods was serving up delicious, good-for-you treats in the heart of Burleigh.

Since 1997 Helen Gibson has been a prominent figure on James Street sharing her love of healthy food including nuts and seeds, baking goods, herbs and spices, teas and powders, Acai bowls, smoothies and fresh juices.

Recently the space next door became available so Helen jumped at the chance to move the juice bar to accommodate her loyal customers who come from far and wide for her goodies.

Helen’s Heavenly Wholefoods Café serve a great range of healthy wraps, sandwiches and salads some of which are gluten free and/or organic.

They also have an unfairly delicious range of raw treats and protein powders available for purchase.

Both the store and café are constantly buzzing with bikini-clad beach goers, mums and bubs and those looking for fresh, delicious food and a passion for health you’d be cold hard-pressed to find anywhere else.

Stroll off the nearby Burleigh beach for a healthy takeaway treat or spend some time in air-conditioned comfort and watch the world pass by.

Having always been ahead of the curve in terms of providing delicious, healthy treats to Gold Coasters, Helen’s Heavenly Bulk Foods is the gift that keeps on giving.

The top three dishes from The Fish House autumn menu

Overlooking beautiful Burleigh Heads, The Fish House with it’s sophisticated beach house vibe is famous for uninterrupted ocean views and seafood as fresh as it gets.

New additions to the autumn menu were inspired by Head Chef Damien Style’s recent trip to Thailand. Here are the top three picks from the new autumn menu and the best of the rest.

Succulent scallops

You may have eaten scallops but these are next level. Bigger than any you’ve ever seen before, these pan seared Canadian scallops are served on a bed of squid ink, mushroom duxelle (finely chopped) and topped with crispy Serrano. Maybe order two of this dish just to be safe.

Saucy Snapper

Not only is The Fish House’s seafood flown in fresh daily, it is without a doubt the best of the best. The Whole Crispy Snapper is fried in rice flour giving it its crispiness and served with Nam Jim (tangy Asian) sauce and a Thai-style salad. It’s a standout dish due to the crispy skin, filled with fresh flavours and certainly one-of-a-kind. Snap to it.

Decadent dessert

A dome of raspberry flavoured heaven awaits. The Raspberry Cheesecake sits atop a crunchy gingernut base, glazed with raspberry coulis and finished with a white chocolate shard. It’s a flavour sensation and it looks super pretty to boot. There’s also a magical Chocolate Fondant if you’re dessert stomach will allow it.

THE REST:

Potato perfection

While clearly not a member of the seafood family, the golden roasted potatoes definitely deserve position number three. They are the best you’ve ever tasted (sorry Grandma) and you won’t be able to stop eating them. The best part? They come as a complimentary side with every main course. Goodbye diet.

Location, location

It almost goes without saying but since we’re here…the Burleigh beachfront location is a big deal, even before you’re aware of the goodness going on inside. Ocean views, a balmy breeze and wide-open windows give The Fish House the type of good vibes you won’t find anywhere else.

Life’s short, it’s time to go to The Fish House.

HOURS: Open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 2.30pm and 5.30m to 8.30pm

LOCATION: 50 Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads
