You’ll be Haven the best time ever at Black Hops' new offshoot.
You’ll be Haven the best time ever at Black Hops' new offshoot.
After spending the last few years conquering the craft beer market, the Black Hops crew are officially embarking on a new challenge, with the local lads last week swinging open the doors on a brand new offshoot venue.
Already setting Burleigh abuzz, Haven is here with a chic new Southern spot for eats and sips.. aaaand our mouths are already watering.
Here on the Coast we’re spoiled when it comes to many things, and a burgeoning brewery and craft beer offering is certainly no exception.
For froth fanatics and even infrequent imbibers, the name Black Hops needs no introduction, with this brew squad playing a solid part in building the buzzing beer scene to which GC locals are treated these days.
Branching out into the food and bar scene is just the next logical step in what we’re officially dubbing the great Black Hops takeover.
The Haven project is something driven by the hospitality team at Black Hops Brewing with the next stage of expansion becoming their first foray into the world of swanky sips and nosh.
As for the location, the new space replaces the old AWOL digs, a mere hops skip and a jump from the flagship Gardenia Grove Brewery site – with a fresh new lewk to match the fancy new fare.
For the lads, the brief was to create a space that has a light and bright feel with a luxury industrial twist.
While the industrial influences offer subtle nods to their brew-haus roots, they’ve certainly delivered on the luxe aspect with the team-led fit out #vibesonpoint.
The grown up new look comes courtesy of some sleek new polished concrete flooring, cascading greenery and copper & leather seating combos to complete the sunny space.
The tapas-style menu offers cheese boards and meat and pickle plates to tickle the tastebuds, while full-blown satisfaction awaits with an assortment of small plates on offer.
The lineup includes tasty morsels such as the jamon & cheddar croquettes made with Serrano ham, vintage cheddar potato croquettes served with a caramelised leek puree and 18 hour slow cooked Maple & Hickory pork belly, tossed in rum-infused hickory sauce, Canadian maple syrup set to be on high rotation.
The kimchi popcorn chicken is also available as a vegan cauliflower option, with the honey-baked brie, crumbed mushrooms and spanish potatoes posing quite the enticing vego-friendly array for foodies across the board.
If you’re feeling thirsty (rhetorical question), Haven of course delivers the Black Hops hook up – with a selection of the frosty faves on tap. Don’t mind if we do!
With the new sip spot being a departure from your typical taproom, the Haven bar also offers a tantalising selection of crafted cocktails outside of the signature hops-based bevvys.
As tempting as it is to shoot for one of everything, our decidedly no-longer-in-our-20’s-selves (mostly) know better – with the warmer weather on the horizon, we’ll try our best to stick to a few of the Palomas, Mt Uncle agave spirit, fresh grapefruit juice, simple syrup, topped with soda and/or the Southside with Wildflower gin, fresh lime and mint.
We have no doubt Haven is here to be just that, with a new spot for Burleigh to frolic that’s up to the task of providing Southern locals with many a mirth-filled weekend.
