It's a street feast not to be missed.
It's a street feast not to be missed.
The weather may be nippy but it just keeps getting hotter at HOTA, and we love it when we have the opportunity to say things like this #cheapthrills. Now we all know HOTA do a darn good market coz we swing in most Sunday mornings for their epic Farmers & Artisan markets. So hold on to your hat (or beanie…brrrr) because they’re about to launch something next-level spesh and we have all the feels!
This month, we’ll be treated to our very own Hawker-inspired night market, transporting us to the exciting and eclectic streets of South East Asia…but in our very own backyard. Happening on Saturday 18th June, get ready for a multisensory explosion with food, taste, creativity and fun. Celebrating gourmet flavours from around the globe, live music and bespoke artisan wears, yep this has us written all over it.
Now it’s no secret that we’re a sucker for a daytime market, but when someone serves up a night version with hawker vibes, there’s an extra dose of cool factor (and no, we’re not talking to the weather this time). And when that ‘someone’ just happens to be the market gods (AKA HOTA and Goodwill Projects), we know we’re in for an electric evening experience and street feast to remember!
Showcasing international taste sensations and featuring a wide variety of authentic Asian delicacies, you simply must try, like, everything! Think steaming hand-wrapped dumplings, crunchy spicy banh mi, and sizzling wagyu beef to name a few and thank god it’s baggy jumper weather – no-one will notice our poor jeans button being stretched within an inch of its life.
Take in the ambience of the hustle and bustle, illuminated by dazzling lanterns as you stroll through 150 unique stalls, with irresistible smells luring you into each and every one. And we reckon a couple of laps around the markets is enough cardio to earn yourself at least another couple of rounds of those dreamy dumplings. You may then find a bit of food coma setting in, so plop yourself down on the gorgeous green where you can laze and gaze at the stunning backdrop of Evendale Lake and the Surfers skyline.
Love a bit of roving street performer action? Same, and they certainly won’t be skimping in this department with plenty of fire tricks, stilts and even Chinese Lion dancers to make the night even more extra. Oh and bonus, there is absolutely zero chance of the kiddos chucking a boredom-induced tanty. We’re not just referring to the magical atmosphere and bottomless visual feast, but also to the specially designed kids activities that’ll be there, and HOTA, we salute you!
So if gourmet goodies, fresh finds and a mega talented line-up of local bands and performers sounds like your love language, call your mates and lock it in Eddie. With complimentary entry and free parking, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Oh and if you already have plans that night, cancel them – you just got a better offer.
