Broadbeach mainstay Metro Coffee comes to Burleigh.
Broadbeach mainstay Metro Coffee comes to Burleigh.
There’s nothing like news of the expansion of a local brand to hit us right in the feel goods, and doubly so when it just so happens to also align with our vested caffeine interests (some might say raging reliance, and they would be right). Well, today is a particularly good ‘brews’ day with Broadbeach mainstay Metro Coffee branching out to bring us a second caffeination destination in Burleigh. Now doling out a delicious double dose of their beloved all-day eats and brews – and we do mean brews in both senses of the word #holysip #spoileralert.
The new location mimics the Metro all-day brekkie style fare long-adored among Broady locals, bringing its signature spread to the former site of Butlers in Burleigh Waters. This move will restore order amongst caffeine (and Chilli egg) fiends – and reinstate a tempting sustenance stop-off along the Reedy Creek Road commute (along with a welcome reprieve for Bounce-braving parents in the neighbourhood).
Depending on your penchant for sniffing out a cracking cup of caffeine, the Metro name has long been one of the Coast’s better kept secrets – tucked amid Broadbeach’s sleepier Surf Pde stretch (just a stone’s throw from the Bowls Club) for almost ten years now.
Until now, the signature Metro Coffee brekkie bites such as whipped feta laden Wild Mushroom Medley, syrup-soaked Ricotta French Toast, and cream cheese slathered Cinnamon Raisin Bagels have remained a privilege reserved only for Broady locals in the know.
Behind the expansion, a man with 35 years in the biz under his belt, owner Andrew Naismith – a hospo old hand and the friendly, familiar face well-known among Metro Coffee frequents. Both factors no doubt contributing to the success of the OG site and its renowned rep for dishing up stellar service and delightful eats.
When it came time to expand, Andrew wanted to bring that same customer-focused standard to the new venue, ultimately settling on the Burleigh community to recreate that same “attention to detail” approach and “quality coffee and simple food done well” ethos. And what a coincidental little overlap indeed – because this is also our exact wish list when it comes to finding #theone (of many, bc when it comes to favourite cafes, the limit does not exist – #currentstatus: in a non-exclusive relationship with our stellar GC cafe scene).
Another adage we can only assume was applied here is the time tested ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ – a sentiment that is especially true of the chic and charming, 80 pax space the new Burleigh venue has inherited. Those familiar with the location’s former life as a tea room and noshery, will be relieved to see the fit out, with its floral-adorned and reclaimed rustic elements, lives on vicariously through Metro 2.0.
The menu, meanwhile, will be nothing but Met(ro), mirroring that same signature style of cafe fare we know and are very fond of. The fresh Breakfast and Lunch menu offers a hefty selection of savoury and sweet morsels and thirst quenching array of bevvy faves. Among them of course, is the specialty coffee, fresh juice and smoothie selection, but perhaps most excitingly, nay enticingly – a cheeky selection of local beers wines and cocktails.
A new spot for boozy long lunches? Love that for you, Burleigh.
