The Bread Social is a locally-owned bakery located in Currumbin Waters, renowned for its artisan, hand-crafted baked goods made with the finest organic ingredients. Founded by Tom Scott, Sam Saulwick, and Paul Giddings, who have been baking out of The Farm in Byron Bay for the past eight years. The bakery creates everything from organic sourdough loaves to delicate, buttery pastries.
The bakery’s philosophy is simple: to create wholesome, high-quality baked goods every day using traditional methods and a deep respect for the integrity of the ingredients.
Commitment to Organic Baking
The Bread Social is committed to organic food production, believing that organic ingredients—grown without chemicals—are essential for both personal health and the health of the planet.
Locally Sourced, Fresh Ingredients
Fresh, in-season ingredients are sourced from local suppliers, with the bakery harvesting from on-site cultivation whenever possible. Every product is crafted with care by a skilled team of bakers. Signature offerings include the naturally leavened Bread Social sourdough and large custard tarts, reflecting the team’s dedication to quality.
The Origins of The Bread Social
The concept for The Bread Social came to life through a conversation between three experienced bakers—Paul, Sam, and Tom—who shared a vision of creating a bakery focused on community, sustainability, and traditional methods. After months of searching for the right location, the perfect spot was found in Currumbin Waters. The bakery officially opened in 2015 and quickly became a beloved institution, with over 90 employees, multiple retail locations, and a loyal wholesale following from Yamba to the Gold Coast.
Staying True to Core Values
The Bread Social remains true to its core values: a commitment to family, community, and the art of baking. The bakery’s story continues to evolve, supported by the loyal customers who have made it an integral part of daily life.
